Infrasound Research

At the moment our microphones are used by FOI. You will find more information here.

The Swedish Infrasound Network is operated by IRF in Umea.

We are testing two Norsonic infrasound microphones in Peru. They are placed at the University of San Augustin Onservation Station close to an active volcano (Arequipa) and a mine (Cerre Verde) and we will register the signals from these two sources. Here is a link to our paper presented in Beijing 2006. Here are some pictures of microphones.

We have started to implement wavelet signal processing in FPGA and there are two diploma work reports available: Implementation of Wavelet Transforms in FPGA, Software Considerations by Lovisa Gibson and Hardware Considerations by Shaoqi Luo.

Jose Chilo presented his licentiate work at a seminar on the 31st of May at 1000 hrs. In this presentation he included the paper accepted for presentation at the conference in Beijing.

We have started to test some commercial microphones that seem to have a good response in the infrasound region. A system including amplifier and filter from a company at Lanna was tested in June and a FFT-spectrum is shown below. Most energy is below 10 Hz!
